Visiting college campuses is one of the best ways to determine if a college is the right fit for the student and their family. When your family is touring campuses, remember that there will be things you like and don’t like; no college is perfect.

Should I take the SAT or ACT?

Short answer: It depends.

Long answer: If it is available to you, probably.

Your junior year is coming to an end and you are headed into the summer. In a few short months, applications for college admissions will open and application deadlines soon after. But where do you even begin to know what is the right college?

As an admission representative, I asked this question to get to know the student, but also as a way to learn how they used their unstructured time.

It was the summer before I started high school when I first heard the phrase “this will look good on your college application.” It was a ploy to get me to dress up as the town mascot.

Back in my high school counselor days, my least favorite, but most important, conversation with a student was their class schedule.
