Over the past 15 years, I have supported hundreds of students with their college search.  Teenagers make me laugh and I love helping them navigate the complex college admissions process.  I fell into this profession when I started giving campus tours at my alma mater, Oregon State University.  This launched my career on “both sides of the desk” in the admissions world.  

I started my career in the Office of Admissions at Oregon State University, recruiting students from across the West to join Beaver Nation.  With an increased interest from students, I became the first Regional Admissions Advisor for any public university in Oregon to be based in California.  Sharing my experience at Oregon State and seeing students find their home in Corvallis was a true joy. 

After settling in California, I was able to pursue my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at University of San Francisco while still working for Oregon State. Once completing my degree, I switched sides of the desk and joined the College Counseling team at Bellarmine College Preparatory High School in San Jose, CA. Working directly with students on a daily basis was hysterical and rewarding. I loved helping students find their right college — close to home, back East, everywhere in between and even a few overseas. My favorite days were when students would run into my office to share good news, everything from college acceptance to a cool summer internship and even a Prom date. 

After nearly 10 years in California, the PNW was calling me home and I had the opportunity to work for the College Board remotely in Oregon.  At the College Board, I helped states and school districts expand their college readiness systems and ensure more students had access to college. Helping leaders remove barriers for all students was a highlight of my work.  

In 2021, I launched Aparicio College Consulting to support students and their families with their college search process.  Applying to college is complex.  Every college has a different application, essays to write, documents to send, deadlines to meet…the list goes on and on.  It is overwhelming!  My goal is to help students simplify their college search and to create options for their next chapter.
