A big part of the application process is introducing yourself to the Admissions Committee through your essays, activity list, and recommendations.  If you were to read my admissions file, here is what I would want you to know about me.

1. I grew up in a College Town — Pullman, Washington.

Washington State University is located in my hometown.  WSU played a large role in my childhood.  In the fall, I spent Saturdays at football games.  In the summers, we kids were kings of campus attending camps.  I even learned the Cougar Fight Song in elementary school music.  Go Cougs!

2. I studied abroad in Germany.

After visiting my sister while she studied abroad in Austria, I could not wait to go abroad.  I spent my junior year of high school in Germany.  While in Germany, the capitol of the country moved from Bonn to Berlin.  I was able to visit both cities while they were the capitol.

3. I met my husband as a campus tour guide.

My husband and I both were campus tour guides for our alma mater, Oregon State University.  That’s right, we fell in love walking around campus backwards.  We even gave a joint campus tour on Halloween dressed up as the Homecoming King and Queen!

4. I love to travel!

As you read earlier, I caught the travel bug early and my adventures have taken me all over the globe.  In addition to living abroad, I have visited over 20 countries.  In Graduate School, I had the opportunity to visit Myanmar with my professor.  It was an incredible adventure!

5. I am a Political Nerd.

Halfway through college, I switched my major from Business to Political Science and wish I had made the change sooner.  I love all things politics.  Professionally, I have been able to turn my interest in politics into advocacy. My colleagues and I successfully lobbied California legislators to expand funds for financial aid.

That is a little about me.  I cannot wait to learn more about you!
